Building a Kingdom
I find some guilty pleasures really pleasurable. That's a boring way of saying it but at the moment, Makai Kingdom is eating most of my nights.
For the uninitiated, MK is the latest (but not so latest at this moment of writing) tactical-RPG-strategy PS2 game from NIS America along their tradition of Japanese import games the likes of which include Disgaea, La Pucelle, and Phantom Brave.
The pleasure is in the growing of the custom-made characters, getting them fitted with cool items (some of which are stolen from monsters by the party's thief), and destroying the enemy boss. It's still the basic create character-kill boss-get loot-level up formula but is structured out around the Japanese RPG taste--that is, you typically need to do a lot of level grinding. The last time I level-grinded was Tactics Ogre (Game Boy Advance) and I remember those late-night (indulgent if you ask me) sessions.
The whole game itself throws out serious themes and instead rests on cute humor against a backdrop of netherworld characters. I find it charming to squash a dungeon critter with a frying pan; yes it's true! An over-sized +74 Attack + 74 Defense frying pan! No warrior worth his double-bladed sword would wield a frying pan. But a chef will. That's right, a chef! That's crazy but cool for a character class! A master chef could whack a monster pretty damn badly just as a standard warrior can. It's all about wackiness in the whacking. Quote that.
I don't know when I'll be able to shelve the game off, but it's been a nice break from God of War I and II (really awesome games for the PS2 by the way).
Until the next mood swing, it be master chefs an der frying pans o' death.

There is one thing we can do, and the happiest people are those who can do it to the limit of their ability. We can be completely present. We can be all here. We can...give all our attention to the opportunity before us.

The Island
The plan is to stay at Gerzon's place (Boljoon) the night before and then go on a boat trip for Sumilon early morning the next day. Rent a cottage when we get to the place and have fun in the sun. The boat will ferry us back before sundown. We should be home by 8-9pm in the evening.
Basket sa ta karun Sunday and maybe we can set the whole plan right.

A New Fresh Look
Yeah. Warm earthy browns like travelling the road to Waterdeep.
Anyway, we have a mini-joyous occasion next month: Marn's Dimension Door's 1st year Anniversary! It's March and we are all going to mark it! :)
So how about we draw up some plans: say, out-of-town overnight beach party? Food, relaxation, and lots, i mean lots, of pictures. Incidentally, let me say I hope I'd get the hang on my *NEW* digital SLR (big grin) by that time. It's my lifetime worth of savings, and to be honest my savings often come few and far between. But I'm getting ahead of myself, I'll post about the whole thing after this.

So what say you folks?

D&M April 11th
April 11 folks, moved from March 8. Reason: We got word from the Sacred Heart admin that all throughout the Lent season (starts at end of Feb's Ash Wed.) flowers inside the church are supressed. So we quickly moved the date to fall on a day within the week just after Easter Sunday-- and it will be Wednesday, since our photographer-friend (who is very hard to book) could also accomodate us on that day.

Quote
"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want." – Margaret Young
